The 7-Day Seed: A Day-by-Day Walkthrough
A free orientation call, then seven guided days from your giving vision to a submitted application.
Most people who want to give on purpose never start. Not because they do not care. Because the first step feels unclear, and nobody enjoys feeling lost in paperwork.
So we made the first step small. The 7-Day Seed is a free orientation call, then seven guided days, from your giving vision to a submitted donor-advised fund application. Here is exactly what happens along the way.
Day 0: The Orientation Call
We talk through your giving, your year and whether a donor-advised fund fits your family at all. Sometimes it does not, and we will say so. If it does, your seven days start that day.
Come as you are. You do not need a number in mind, a sponsor picked out or a tax return in hand. Most people arrive with a sense that they want to give more on purpose and no idea where to begin. That is exactly the right place to start.
Days 1 to 2: Vision and Sponsor
The first half is about why and where.
Your Giving Vision
Your mission, in your own words. What you hope your giving will say about your family.
DAF or Foundation
Plain language on a donor-advised fund versus a private foundation, with questions for your CPA and attorney.
Choosing a Sponsor
One of the two sponsors we recommend, or one you already work with. Any is welcome.
Your CPA Questions
A question list to take to your CPA, so the tax side is confirmed by the person who knows your return.
Days 3 to 5: Name and Launch
The middle of the week is where most people would stall on their own, so this is where we stay closest.
- Naming your fund, and choosing successor donor-advisors: the people who carry it on after you.
- Walking through the sponsor's application together, one field at a time.
- Preparing for your sponsor's welcome call, so you know what they will ask.
Naming the fund tends to be the moment it becomes real. Some families use their last name. Some choose a verse or a word that captures their mission. There is no wrong answer, only one that fits you.
Days 6 to 7: Seed and Plan
The last two days turn the fund from an account into a plan.
- A money-flow map and a first-gift plan, with questions to confirm with your CPA.
- A shortlist of charities that touch your heart.
- Your first grant plan and a simple giving calendar.
The giving calendar does not need to be elaborate. Most families start with a few dates a year and adjust once they see how it feels.
By day seven, the goal is a launch-ready fund and a submitted application. How quickly it is approved is up to the sponsor, and that can take business days.
What to Have on Hand
None of this is required for the call, but it helps to have a few things nearby once the week starts.
- A rough list of where you already give, even if it is only three names.
- Your CPA's contact information, so the question list has somewhere to go.
- The names of anyone you might want as successor donor-advisors.
- A sense of what you might give first: cash, or shares that have grown. Your CPA confirms the details.
What It Costs, and Who Holds the Money
The call and the seven days are free. No purchase required. We do offer paid coaching, and only go into it with people who raise their hand.
Your fund lives with the sponsor you choose. Kingdom Portfolios is not a DAF sponsor. We never hold or touch the money, and we take no compensation from any sponsor. Minimums and fees vary by sponsor, so you will see them before you apply.
We are also not your tax preparer. Every tax question in the week lands on your CPA's desk, on purpose. Our job is to help you ask good questions, not to answer the ones only your CPA can.
Why We Walk It With You
It is a lonely road for a faith-driven owner. Most money conversations are about earning. Fewer make room for how to give well.
It is a lonely road for a faith-driven owner. You do not have to walk it alone.
So there is accountability all week, with someone checking in each day of the seven. Short check-ins, so nothing stalls. If a day slips because a job ran long or a child got sick, we pick it back up. Grace is part of the plan. Our founder walked this same path. The Kingdom Seed Foundation is our founder's own donor-advised fund, approved by its sponsor. We share it only as an example, never as a place we ask anyone to give.
- The 7-Day Seed is a free orientation call, then seven guided days to a submitted application.
- Days 1 to 2 cover vision and sponsor, days 3 to 5 name and launch, days 6 to 7 seed and plan.
- Your fund lives with the sponsor you choose. We never hold the money or take sponsor compensation.
- Approval timing is the sponsor's, and every tax question goes to your CPA.
